TREK RSL LACE ROUTE: PERFORMANCE IN ITS PUREST FORM

Developed for the most demanding cyclists, the Trek RSL Lace Route combines lightness, stiffness, and support in a shoe resolutely focused on performance. Its lace-up design is not just for aesthetics: it provides a particularly precise fit while contributing to the shoe's aerodynamic optimisation.

Used at the highest level, the RSL Lace is intended for competition, gran fondos, and cyclists who want to get the most out of every pedal stroke.

CLASSIC LACING FOR PERFORMANCE

Trek has opted for a lace-up closure system. This solution allows tension to be distributed over a large part of the top of the foot and to independently adjust the tightness of each zone.

This allows the cyclist to slightly loosen certain parts of the foot and provide more support to others to achieve a truly customised fit.

This construction also allows for a particularly thin and streamlined upper. In the wind tunnel, Trek reports an aerodynamic gain of 1.8 watts at 45 km/h compared to its RSL Route equipped with a BOA system.

METNET TECHNOLOGY: COMFORT WHERE THE FOOT NEEDS IT

The RSL Lace incorporates METNET technology developed by Trek.

Specific zones of the upper are able to stretch and better accommodate the natural movements of the foot. This design aims in particular to reduce pressure points that can appear during long rides or when intensity increases.

The result is a shoe capable of maintaining high-performance support without excessively constricting the forefoot.

TREK PRO LAST SHAPE

The Trek Pro Last shape was developed to offer a high-performance fit while better corresponding to the average foot morphology.

The available space is slightly more generous than with some particularly narrow competition shoe shapes. Combined with METNET and the precise adjustment of the laces, this design allows for an excellent compromise between support, foot freedom, and comfort.

100% OCLV CARBON SOLE

Under the foot, the RSL Lace features a plate made entirely of OCLV carbon.

Its very high stiffness helps to limit energy loss due to shoe deformation. The power developed by the cyclist is thus efficiently transmitted to the pedal during accelerations, climbs, and high-intensity efforts.

This construction also contributes to maintaining a particularly low weight.

Only 211 grams are announced by Trek for a shoe in size 42.

WATT LOCK TECHNOLOGY

The performance of the RSL Lace is not solely based on its carbon sole.

Trek also integrates its internal Watt Lock structure, developed to effectively hold the foot inside the shoe.

The foot remains better positioned throughout the entire pedalling cycle, especially during the upstroke phase. Unwanted movements are thus limited to promote more direct power transmission.

OPTIMISED HEEL SUPPORT

The heel has also been the subject of specific work on this lace-up version.

Its design aims to precisely hold the back of the foot while improving the overall comfort of the shoe. The support obtained complements the action of the Watt Lock structure and the lacing to maintain excellent stability when intensity increases.

211 GRAMS IN SIZE 42

With a claimed weight of only 211 g per shoe in size 42, the Trek RSL Lace is one of the particularly lightweight road shoes.

This contained mass makes perfect sense in a sporting context: climbs, repeated accelerations, competitions, and long days where every gram saved helps to reduce the weight of the equipment.

COMPATIBLE WITH MAJOR ROAD PEDAL SYSTEMS

The sole adopts a standard three-hole cleat mount.

The Trek RSL Lace can thus be used with the main road clipless pedal and cleat systems using this standard, notably Shimano SPD-SL and Look Kéo.

A SHOE DESIGNED FOR RACING

The Trek RSL Lace Route is primarily aimed at the cyclist looking for high-end equipment intended for performance.

Its very low weight, OCLV carbon sole, Watt Lock support, and aerodynamics make it a particularly relevant shoe for competition and gran fondos.

But its appeal also lies in the combination of this stiffness with METNET and traditional lacing, which allow for a more progressive and customisable fit.
