The 8th generation Trek Madone SL 5 Pro is aimed at cyclists looking for a fast, versatile, and upgradeable bike for training, gran fondos, competitions, and fast-paced group rides.
This eighth generation combines the aerodynamic qualities of the Madone with the lightness once associated with the Émonda. It is therefore high-performing on the flat, efficient on climbs, and precise on descents.
The frame is made from 500 Series OCLV Carbon. This construction offers an excellent balance of stiffness, strength, lightness, and affordability compared to the 900 Series OCLV Carbon reserved for the Madone SLR versions.
The Race Road geometry promotes a dynamic position and responsive handling. It meets the needs of performance-oriented cyclists without making the bike overly demanding on long rides.
The tubes feature the Full System Foil shapes developed by Trek. Their profile helps to reduce air resistance while controlling the amount of material used so as not to penalise the frame's weight.
This design allows the Madone to maintain its speed more easily on rolling sections, during group relays, and against the wind. It also remains light enough to be effective when the road goes uphill.
The IsoFlow opening at the seat tube is one of the Madone's visual signatures. It allows this part of the frame to retain a certain amount of flex to better filter out vibrations and small road imperfections.

The main difference between this Pro version and the standard Madone SL 5 lies in its Bontrager Aeolus Elite 48 wheels. Their 48 mm carbon rims improve air penetration and help maintain speed.
This intermediate profile offers a good balance between aerodynamics, stiffness, and versatility. It is suitable for both rolling courses and hilly routes, without becoming as demanding in the wind as a particularly deep rim.
The wheels and tyres are compatible with tubeless use. The Tubeless Ready setup reduces the risk of pinch flats and allows for a slightly lower pressure to improve grip and comfort.
The Bontrager Aeolus Pro 700 x 28 mm tyres have a 120 TPI casing and aramid beads. The frame accepts tyres up to 32 mm wide for more comfort on rough roads.
The Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes offer powerful, progressive, and consistent braking. The 160 mm Shimano CL700 discs provide good speed control on descents and maintain their effectiveness when the road becomes wet.
The aluminium Bontrager Comp handlebar is paired with a Trek RCS Pro stem. This separate construction makes it easy to adjust the position and to replace the handlebar or stem.
The RCS headset system keeps cable routing discreet. The bike can also be upgraded to a compatible carbon cockpit if the cyclist wishes to reduce weight and further optimise aerodynamics.
The Gloss Dark Star/Matte Deep Smoke colourway combines a gloss black finish with matte smoke black elements. This subtle contrast highlights the shape of the tubes, the IsoFlow opening, and the high-profile carbon wheels.
