The Trek Émonda ALR 5 is based on a 300 Series Alpha Aluminium frame designed to offer an excellent balance of lightness, stiffness, and responsiveness. Trek uses its Invisible Weld technology to achieve particularly discreet welds and a finish that visually resembles that of a carbon frame.

The 50/34-tooth crankset combined with an 11-34-tooth cassette offers a particularly versatile gear range.

In practical terms, the large 50-tooth chainring allows you to maintain speed on flats and descents, while the 34 x 34 combination makes pedalling easier when the gradient increases. The bike is therefore equally comfortable on rolling terrain and on rides with significant elevation gain.

Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes

The bike also features Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes paired with 160 mm rotors.

Bontrager Paradigm SL Tubeless Ready wheels

The Émonda ALR 5 comes with Bontrager Paradigm SL aluminium wheels with an internal width of 21 mm.

They are Tubeless Ready, meaning they can be converted to run without an inner tube using compatible tyres and the necessary equipment. This setup can allow for lower tyre pressure to improve comfort and grip while reducing the risk of pinch flats.

The wheels use 12 mm thru-axles, a technology now widely used on disc brake road bikes to provide stiffness and precision to the whole setup.

Which size to choose?

The Émonda ALR 5 is available in 8 sizes, from 47 to 62, allowing for a precise fit to the cyclist's body.

The cyclist's height is a primary indicator, but inseam length, body proportions, and desired riding position should also be taken into account.
