Finding a marathon training plan tailored to your goals is no easy task. Between the notions of VMA, heart rate, speed, FMC… you can quickly get lost and fall into information overload, without it being really useful.
An optimized marathon training plan must :
Preparing for a marathon and running the 42 kilometers is an exercise that leaves no one indifferent emotionally and, above all, physically. Your preparation must be well thought-out, rigorous and optimized according to the objectives you have set yourself, whether you want to run a marathon in 5h30, 4h30 or under 3 hours.
Unsurprisingly, the training plan is the basis for all marathoners and half-marathoners. To swallow the 42.195-kilometre race without indigestion, it’s best to rationalize your running training beforehand and avoid the unexpected. Consistency and progressiveness build a solid foundation for marathon day. A good training plan is therefore first and foremost one that corresponds to each road or trail runner’s profile. You don’t evolve in the same way whether you are a regular, occasional or beginner runner. This premise gives rise to three main
types of marathon training plans:
Whatever your level, we recommend that you choose a program based on VMA. The maximum heart rate is a real reference factor, but it can also be used to manage your training.
