It may seem counterintuitive, but merino wool is one of the most comfortable fibers for the summer season. Why wear wool in summer? Because merino wool is incredibly fine and its lightweight fibers wick moisture away from your skin. The moisture then disappears into the air, keeping you comfortable in warm weather.

In this guide, we’ve chosen the ICEBREAKER brand, which has been making a name for itself since 1995! This New Zealand company draws its strength from its origins nestled in the Southern Alps of New Zealand and its deep connection with nature. It was inspired by the local Merino sheep’s resistance to the elements, and by the exceptional quality of their wool. Icebreaker offers you the opportunity to make natural choices and contribute to preserving our planet for future generations.

Wear wool clothing in summer

Merino is an intelligent fiber that adapts to the outside temperature and to your own, regulating your thermal comfort.
In summer, its lightness and breathability keep you cool, even in temperatures as high as 30°C.
In winter, merino adds an extra layer of wool to cope with freezing temperatures down to -10°C.

Wear woolen underwear in all seasons

The Icebreaker range extends to underwear for optimum heat regulation, starting with your private parts. Its pleasant, soft all-season wear makes it a premium choice in terms of comfort.

Icebreaker has adapted merino wool into a lightweight layering system.
By layering Icebreaker garments, the fabrics trap air between each layer, increasing warmth.

Wearing wool and caring for sheep

NEVER HUNGRY OR THIPY: Animals have access to sufficient food and water. This enables them to cope with extreme conditions.

LARGE SPACES: Spaces are very large. They are free to roam without constraints or restrictions. The animals are therefore stress-free and free to roam wherever they want.

IN GOOD HEALTH: Veterinary care is compulsory. A healthy animal will produce better quality wool.

ACCESS TO SHELTER: Access to shelter is essential. It’s important for sheep to be able to protect themselves not only from the sun, but also from extreme cold.

MULESING FORBIDDEN: This breeding technique involves removing the skin around the tail of Merino sheep, usually without anesthetic, to avoid the need for care. This practice is strictly forbidden at Icebreaker, whose primary concern is the health and safety of its sheep.
