At Veja, everything is thought out down to the smallest detail, which is why the brand has decided to locate its factory in Brazil, close to the various plantations and places where the raw materials are harvested. Ecology also means reducing the distances covered by raw materials.
Since 2020, the brand has been committed to a circular economy approach. The brand has opened a center in Bordeaux dedicated to repairing damaged models, recycling non-repairable models, and selling new models with minor defects.

The upper of veja running shoes is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. This material offers technical benefits such as unrivalled breathability and lightness.
In addition to recycled plastic, the shoes’ canvas is made from cotton. The cotton used comes from a cooperative of small-scale organic cotton growers who use neither synthetic fertilizers nor pesticides. This cotton is also spun by a Brazilian cooperative that pays its employees a fair wage.
The soles of Veja running shoes are made of Amazonian rubber. But unlike most running brands, Veja does not contribute to the mass deforestation of the Amazon rainforest. In fact, the brand works with a cooperative of Seringueros who harvest the rubber from the trees without tapping them, in the manner of maple syrup. Rubber has strong anti-slip properties that enhance the grip of outsole soles and extend the life of your shoes.
The midsole is made from L-Foam, an expanded latex cushion with a 30% recycled base. With its high shock-absorbing capacity, it offers long-term resilience and remains effective throughout the life of the sneaker. L-Foam is manufactured to restore 80% of your energy.
The inside of your Veja is eco-friendly too! The insole of your shoes is biosourced and 72% recycled. The latter is made from sugar cane, rice waste and recycled plastic bottles.
The shoe’s logo and rear insert are made of Pebax. Made entirely from castor oil, this material is light and resistant, offering excellent support without unnecessary weight.
All shoe linings, laces and cords are made of recycled plastic from old plastic bottles.
99% of running shoes on the market are made of plastic. Shoe manufacturing is one of the main causes of pollution on earth. At veja, we know that big changes start with small gestures. So, are you with us?
