Insulation

Any outdoor enthusiast will tell you that staying warm is essential in any situation. As long as you maintain your body temperature, you’ll be able to keep your spirits up and enjoy the experience.

It’s an old truth, but the technology for dealing with it evolves with each winter season.

Down or Synthetic?

Insulation technology is constantly evolving, and both down and synthetic insulation have improved considerably in recent years.

The classic advantages of
down
are its exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio, quality feel and fluffiness.

The major advantages of
synthetic insulation
are moisture resistance, ease of maintenance and affordability.

However, the constant progression of improvement is leading to increasingly similar characteristics, and many of these differences have become less marked than before.

Haglöfs Down

Haglöfs H DOWN is a natural insulation where each feather is treated with a hydrophobic coating. H DOWN Platinum, our highest-quality down, withstands a full week in wet conditions.

In all other respects, it retains the appreciated characteristics of down. It’s light, soft and comfortable. Its excellent insulation still allows breathability, and it’s easy to compress and pack.

When it comes to price, down is a top-of-the-range choice.

All down used by Haglöfs is ethically sourced and certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS).

The Synthetic Haglöfs

Haglöfs MIMIC is a synthetic filling with many down-like properties. In MIMIC Gold and Platinum, the insulation consists of small, lightweight, individual beads of recycled polyamide. It is naturally hydrophobic and retains heat even when wet.

The garments are easy to care for, and the insulation retains its shape even after numerous washes or prolonged compression.

Haglöfs MIMIC Platinum also contains finely grated graphene, small carbon particles, which enable it to heat up faster and retain heat longer.

H Down Gold

H DOWN Gold is a natural down with exceptional insulating qualities. However, unlike conventional down, it can also withstand humidity for at least 5000 minutes of constant exposure.

H Down Platinium

H DOWN Platinum is a soft, lightweight, naturally insulating down treated with a hydrophobic finish that makes it virtually waterproof for at least 10,000 minutes (a full week).

Mimic Gold

MIMIC Gold is a premium-quality synthetic insulation made from recycled materials. It’s lightweight, easy to compress and pack, highly durable, and retains excellent insulating properties even when wet.

Mimic Platinium

MIMIC Platinum is an excellent synthetic insulation reinforced with the Nobel Prize-winning super material graphene, enabling it to warm up faster and retain heat longer.

Haglöfs pants

The Haglöfs outdoor pants collection is based on a number of clear decisions made in a logical step-by-step process.

Development is based on the knowledge gained from our “Pant Finder” concept, which makes selection much easier.

Climate commitment

Here are our objectives:

  • Use of renewable energy to power our operations and suppliers
  • Increaseduse of environmentally-friendly materials and more efficient production processes
  • Promoting sustainability by making our products more sustainable and exploring new business models
  • Offsetting residual emissions through the purchase of high-quality carbon credits

How to reach them?

  1. Measuring and disclosing: We assess our emissions not only from our operations, but also from the production and distribution of our products. This includes the manufacture of our outdoor equipment, where our impact is greatest.
  2. Reducing energy consumption: We focus on reducing emissions in our operations and supply chain, working on the use of low-impact materials, energy efficiency and the sustainability of our products.
  3. Introducing renewable energy: We aim to use only renewable energy for electricity, and encourage our suppliers to do the same.
  4. Removing carbon: Once we have reduced our emissions by 50%, we will invest in projects that remove carbon from the atmosphere to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.
  5. Offset projects: We support high-quality projects, verified by voluntary carbon market standards, ranging from clean energy production to forest protection. These projects aim to reduce emissions and promote sustainable development, while providing benefits beyond emissions reduction, such as local job creation and biodiversity protection.
