Designed for competition, the Shimano XC703 combines stiffness, precision, and grip to meet the demands of cross-country. Its carbon-reinforced midsole optimises power transfer, while its two BOA® L6 dials allow for quick and precise adjustment. On sections to be covered on foot, the ULTREAD XC rubber outsole provides excellent grip on uneven, loose, or muddy terrain.
The Shimano XC703 is aimed at demanding mountain bikers looking for an excellent balance of pedalling efficiency, support, and grip. Developed for cross-country and competition, it is also suitable for intensive training, MTB marathons, and technical courses.
Its lightweight and snug construction effectively stabilises the foot to make the most of every pedal stroke. It still retains enough comfort and versatility to accompany long-duration rides.
The adjustment system is based on two compact BOA® L6 Z-type dials. They allow for separate adjustment of the instep and forefoot support for a precise and even fit.
The low-profile cross-lacing pattern effectively distributes pressure and secures the forefoot without creating unnecessary bulk. The adjustment can be easily adapted during the ride to account for the intensity of the effort or foot swelling.

Spike mounts at the front allow for adding or replacing spikes depending on the conditions and type of terrain. Traction can thus be adapted to dry, technical, or particularly loose courses.
The Shimano XC703 is compatible with two-bolt SPD-type MTB cleats. It can be paired with various off-road clipless pedals and forms a particularly coherent system with Shimano PD-M8100 pedals.
Cleats and additional spikes may be sold separately. It is recommended to check their compatibility and carefully adjust their position before the first use.
