The Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 confirms Saucony’s commitment to offering a lightweight, high-performance competition shoe. Refocused on performance, it combines a redesigned midsole with a carbon plate to maximize high-speed projection. Below: new features, technologies, racing sensations and a clear comparison chart with the previous generation.

✔ New dual-foam midsole architecture (soft layer + reactive layer).
✔ Modernized profile and geometry for improved foot-push transition.
✔ Lightweight “honeycomb” mesh upper with TPU reinforcements for a good weight/support compromise.
✔ S lipper-style tongue construction for simplified slip-on and fit.
✔ Strategic rubber zones on the outsole to protect the foam at critical bearing points.
The midsole combines a very soft layer (PWRRUN HG) under the sole to filter impacts, with a more reactive PWRRUN PB layer in contact with the ground, which releases energy when the shoe is pushed. This duo aims to reconcile initial comfort and performance.
The carbon plate is sandwiched into the foam to produce a progressive rocker and linear propulsion – the aim being to provide perceptible assistance on fast gaits without excessive rigidity in support.
The honeycomb-patterned technical mesh upper limits weight while enhancing durability. Side TPU reinforcements stabilize the foot without sacrificing breathability.
Rubbers placed where wear is heaviest (especially in the forefoot) to protect the foam and prolong longevity in competition use.

The Pro 4 is very practical to put on: the sock-like construction and slightly elastic laces facilitate foot positioning. The fit remains competition-oriented – snug over the forefoot but without excessive compression.
Heel strikers may notice a sensation of grip/noise on contact with the ground over the first few kilometers, linked to the architecture of the foam and the recess around the plate. As cadence increases, the foam + plate combination comes to the fore and the shoe releases its propulsion. Midfoot / forefoot runners will get the most out of the performance.
A break-in period (a few outings) allows the outsole to take on the shape of the foot, reducing initial sensations under the forefoot. Thereafter, the Pro 4 offers a clear balance between energy return and protection.

✔ Main use: road races (10 km, half, marathon) and intense sessions (tempo, threshold).
✔ Rider profile: experienced / competitor used to carbon plate shoes.
✔ Foulée: neutral; optimal efficiency for midfoot or forefoot support.
✔ Recommended weight: ideally up to ~80 kg to exploit the foam’s behavior.
✔ Tip: favor the Pro 4 for targeted speed/competition sessions; keep a less ribbed training pair for volume.
✔ Strong forward projection thanks to the carbon plate.
✔ Reactive assortment delivered by the PWRRUN HG / PWRRUN PB combination.
✔ Simplified donning and uniform fit (bootie construction).
✔ Targeted forefoot protection for extended durability in competition.
