The Garmin Varia RTL515 is a rear radar with a bike light designed to improve visibility and help cyclists anticipate approaching vehicles. Its radar detects vehicles up to 140 metres away, while the rear light offers visibility up to 1.6 km and a 220° viewing angle. Compact and IPX7 waterproof, it provides up to 16 hours of battery life in day flash mode.
The Varia RTL515 offers four modes: solid, peloton, night flash and day flash. The light output reaches 65 lumens in day flash and 29 lumens in night flash. The radar-only mode also allows you to use vehicle detection without activating the rear light.
The radar attaches to the rear of the bike and can be paired with a compatible Garmin device or the Varia app. Battery life varies depending on the lighting mode: up to 6 hours in solid mode, 8 hours in peloton mode, 6 hours in night flash mode and 16 hours in day flash mode. Its IPX7 certification means it can withstand accidental immersion in 1 metre of water for 30 minutes.
