The DT Swiss ARC 1400 DICUT DB 50 is designed for cyclists looking for a high-performance wheel without an excessively deep profile. Its 50 mm rim provides a significant aerodynamic advantage while maintaining a low weight and dynamic handling.
It is suitable for road racing, sportives, triathlons, and fast training sessions. Its intermediate profile allows it to be used on flat courses as well as hilly routes.
The carbon rim has a depth of 50 mm, an internal width of 20 mm, and an external width of 27 mm. These dimensions promote a smooth transition between the rim and modern road tyres.
The 50 mm depth makes it easier to maintain speed on the flat without the crosswind susceptibility of a very deep-section wheel. It thus represents an interesting compromise for regular and varied use.
The rim uses a Hooked Tubeless Crotchet construction. Unlike a Hookless rim, it retains hooks designed to hold the tyre beads.
It can be set up Tubeless with a compatible tyre, sealing rim tape, a valve, and sealant. It also accepts a traditional setup with an inner tube and a tyre compatible with the rim's dimensions.
Its 20 mm internal width is particularly suitable for 25 to 28 mm road tyres. Compatibility and maximum pressure must always be checked on the chosen tyre.
The wheel is built around the high-end DT Swiss 240 DICUT hub. Renowned for its reliability and ease of maintenance, it helps to maintain smooth rotation and a reasonable weight.
Its DICUT architecture is designed to accommodate specific head spokes and form a coherent unit with the aerodynamic rim.
The Ratchet EXP 36 system uses a 36-tooth star ratchet. It offers a 10-degree engagement angle to quickly transmit effort when the cyclist accelerates or resumes pedalling.
The Ratchet EXP design reduces the number of internal components compared to a traditional system. It promotes reliability, limits weight, and simplifies maintenance operations.
This version features a lightweight Shimano Road HG 11-speed freehub body. It is particularly suitable for Shimano 11-speed road cassettes and some cassettes compatible with the HG standard.
Compatibility with a different cassette must be checked before installation. A spacer may be required with some cassettes having fewer than eleven sprockets.
The DT Aero Comp T-Head spokes have a bladed section designed to reduce aerodynamic drag during rotation. Their double-butted construction allows for a balance of strength and low weight.
The rear wheel uses 24 spokes and DT Pro Lock nipples hidden within the rim. Braking and transmission forces are thus distributed effectively.
The hub uses a Center Lock disc mount. This standard simplifies disc installation and ensures its precise positioning on the hub.
The wheel is designed for frames using a 12 x 142 mm rear thru-axle. It is not directly compatible with a quick-release frame.
