The micrometric loop
This tightening system (strap or knob adjustment, for example) allows you to adjust your shoe to suit your foot. You can also tighten it while you’re riding, for maximum performance when you’re pedaling. Clamping with this type of system is very precise. One of the best-known is the Boa clamp (small round knob).
Laces
Shoelaces are making a comeback, offering cyclists a relatively comfortable alternative. Featuring a less precise tightening system, these will be preferred for certain disciplines such as mountain biking and enduro.
The hook-and-loop fastener
Also known as “scratch”, they are practical and sturdy. This system is recommended for beginners. In addition to comfort, it offers good foot support and is easy to adjust, even when riding. However, in wet weather, the scratches may tend to lose their grip.
