Precisely analyse your pedalling with the Favero Assioma PRO RS-2, road pedals equipped with an independent power sensor on each side. Their bilateral measurement provides the actual total power, cadence and balance between the left and right legs. The IAV Power technology guarantees an advertised accuracy of ± 1%, even during sprints, cadence changes or with oval chainrings. Compatible with Shimano SPD-SL cleats, they combine a light weight, a 10.5 mm stack, a battery life of up to 160 hours and ANT+ and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Favero Assioma PRO RS-2 pedals integrate a power sensor in each of the two pedals. Unlike a unilateral system that measures one leg and then multiplies the value by two, they actually record the power produced on the left and right.
This bilateral measurement provides more accurate total power, but also helps to identify any imbalance between the two legs. It will be of particular interest to demanding cyclists, competitors, triathletes and athletes who want to precisely track their progress.
The IAV Power technology analyses the instantaneous angular velocity throughout the entire pedalling cycle. It allows the sensors to account for speed variations that occur with each crank revolution.
Favero thus announces an accuracy of ± 1%, including during sprints, low-cadence efforts, accelerations or rapid changes in pace. The system also remains compatible with oval chainrings.
Each pedal independently measures the power developed by the corresponding leg. The two values are then combined to calculate the total power actually produced by the cyclist.
The left/right balance allows you to see the contribution of each leg as a percentage. This data can help to track the evolution of an asymmetry, to better understand your pedalling or to support a gradual recovery after an injury.
In addition to power, cadence and left/right balance, the Assioma PRO RS-2 provide various metrics for analysing pedalling technique.
The availability and display of this data may vary depending on the communication protocol, GPS computer or application used.
The Favero Assioma PRO RS-2 use a Shimano SPD-SL compatible engagement system. They work with Shimano SM-SH10, SM-SH11 and SM-SH12 cleats.
A pair of Favero SPD-SL cleats offering 6 degrees of float is included. Cyclists already accustomed to Shimano pedals can thus maintain a familiar engagement system and feel.
Each pedal equipped with its sensor weighs 124.8 g, for a total advertised weight of approximately 249.6 g per pair. As the electronic components are integrated into the spindle, no external pod visually weighs down the assembly.
The height between the spindle and the support surface, or stack, is limited to 10.5 mm. This low height brings the foot closer to the spindle and promotes a direct pedalling sensation.
The pedal body is made of carbon fibre reinforced technopolymer. This construction aims to combine lightness, rigidity and resistance to efficiently transfer power to the drivetrain.
The strain gauges, electronics and batteries are protected inside the spindles. The pedals have an IP67 waterproof rating, suitable for training and competitions in the rain.
The ATC, Active Temperature Compensation system, compensates for temperature variations that may affect the operation of the strain gauges. It helps to maintain the consistency of measurements when conditions change during the ride.
A manual calibration must be performed during the first installation and after transferring the pedals to another bike. The auto-calibration system then facilitates their daily use.
Each pedal integrates a rechargeable lithium battery. Favero announces a battery life of up to 160 hours per charge, which greatly reduces the frequency of recharging.
The two magnetic connectors provided are placed directly on the spindles. The Y-cable allows simultaneous charging of the left and right pedals.
The Assioma PRO RS-2 communicate via ANT+ and Bluetooth. They can be paired with most GPS computers, sports watches and training applications compatible with power meters.
The Bluetooth connection supports up to three devices simultaneously. This feature makes it easier to use a computer, a watch and a training application at the same time.
The pedals are installed like classic road pedals. No magnets, external pods or additional cadence sensors need to be attached to the bike.
This design makes it easy to transfer them between several bikes. After each change, simply perform a manual calibration from the Favero Assioma app, then pedal for a few moments to allow the system to finalise its automatic adjustment.
The electronic elements are integrated into the spindles while the pedal bodies are interchangeable. The Assioma PRO platform thus allows you to replace the bodies in case of wear or to adapt the spindles to another discipline with the appropriate compatible bodies.
This architecture facilitates maintenance and extends the life of the sensor, without having to replace the entire electronic system.
The Favero Assioma PRO RS-2 are among the most comprehensive solutions for cyclists who want to precisely analyse their power. Their main advantage lies in the independent measurement of each leg, which is more accurate than a unilateral estimate when the left/right balance varies with fatigue or intensity. We also appreciate their Shimano SPD-SL compatibility, their low stack height, their light weight and their battery life of up to 160 hours. The RS-1 version will suffice for simply managing your training zones, but the RS-2 is the best choice for a competitor, triathlete or cyclist looking for in-depth data and a truly measured total power.
